Upcycling Inspiration: Repurposing my Vintage Glass Decanter into a Luxury Bubble Bath Bottle

Aloha!

When one of my friends gifted me a vintage glass decanter as a birthday present, I was a little stumped as to what I was going to do with it. Too large to large to sit anywhere comfortably in my bedroom and too mismatched to sit with my parent's own set of decanters, I had to think outside the box as to what I was going to do with it.

I'm a bit of a self-confessed hoarder, if you've ever seen the episode of Keeping up with the Kardashians, where Kourtney ends up trying to reclaim the items she put into the jumble sale, then you'll have a pretty good idea of the kind of emotional attachment I find in even the smallest of items - but I mean, you can't just throw out a perfectly good glass decanter!

My moment of up-cycling inspiration came when I was relaxing in the bath - the place where all great thinkers find their 'Eureka moment'. Looking at the latest bottle of 'high-end' bubble bath sitting on the shelf, in a cheap, plastic bottle, it got me thinking. If a decanter is designed to have spirits and alcohol poured into it, why can't I put my bubble bath in there instead? So 5 minutes of meticulous pouring and shaky hands later, and I had my very own decorative bubble bath bottle - the perfect addition to my bathroom, giving it a sophisticated-glamour and slightly vintage feel too!

It wasn't the only idea I'd had planned for the little gem though, I initially toyed with the idea of placing fairy or Christmas lights inside and using it as a lantern to give my bedroom a little relaxed, mood lighting, but as I mentioned I sadly don't have the space for it.

I hope this has inspired you all to look at the simplest of items in a new way, and try finding an alternative purpose for them - you never know what you'll conjure up!

Leave me a little comment if you've recently upcycled something yourself - I always love hearing about crafty tips and tricks to try out for myself.

Until next time..
