Day trip to London - Enjoy Champagne Afternoon Tea for Two at Vertigo 42

Vertigo 42 Champagne Afternoon Tea Tower 42

I'm always on the look out for fun and exciting ways to spend my weekends, whether it be a romantic weekend away, a citybreak or a simple day trip out. So when I happened to stumble upon a chance to enjoy Champagne Afternoon Tea for 2 at Vertigo 42 in Tower 42, London, for an incredible £35 thanks to Wowcher, I jumped at the opportunity and dragged my boyfriend up to London with me for the day.

I'd never been for afternoon tea before, but knew to expect all kinds of miniature delights to tantalize the taste buds, so naturally I was very excited! To make it a special occasion we decided to dress up a little so that we could enjoy our champagne in style - I found the cutest powder blue, lacey midi dress that has quickly become favourite in my SS16 wardrobe.

When we arrived at Tower 42 on the day, we were directed to the exclusive Vertigo 42 lift that shot us straight up to the bar in a matter of seconds - I'm not one for heights and felt a little lightheaded when I stepped out of the lift but it was so worth it for the views!

Vertigo 42 itself has a really interesting layout, it's incredibly contemporary with mirrored interior walls that reflect the incredible views outside. Each of the tables is set against a window so that you'll never be sat at a table where you're unable to appreciate the views, and each is named after the particular landmark they look out onto - we happened to be seated looking out onto St Paul's Cathedral which was a truly spectacular view!

Once I'd acclimatized to the height (with thanks in part to the glass of champagne to help me relax) my boyfriend and I tucked into an assortment of sandwiches, pastries and cakes. I have a particularly sweet tooth and left feeling thoroughly content with all the treats we were able to enjoy.

If you're looking for something relatively inexpensive to do in London, I'd totally recommend visiting Vertigo 42 - plus going for afternoon tea means you're able to enjoy the rest of your afternoon / evening doing a little retail therapy and heading out to a restaurant for dinner - if you've still got room after your tea!

Only a little post today but I hope you enjoyed it, you'll have to leave me a comment below if you've recently been to London and discovered a 'must-go' hotspot to share!

Until next time..
