Latest in Beauty: The Soap House Co. Lip Balm Review

As a self confessed lip gloss lover I am always on the look out for the next best beauty balm to add to my extensive collection. So when I found out about The Soap House Co. I was pretty excited to put their products to the test.
I managed to get my hands on two of their all natural, handmade lip balms in Tiramisu and Cherry to put through their paces.

By now most of you will know I'm a sucker for products with 'vintage' packaging, personally it adds to the overall appeal and whilst some people may look at the transparent pots as lacking in design and character, I look at it as a nod to the all natural ingredients packed inside. The motto 'less is more' is definitely true in this case, and more often than not I find the most exotically packaged items to be the most misleading in the beauty world.

The balm itself is similar to Vaseline but is a little lighter and doesn't create that thick, greasy feeling that other lip products can have a tendency to do. I'm a big fan of the fact that these aren't tinted as well, they're perfect for just popping into my handbag and applying to chapped lips on the go, or just keeping by my bedside for my nightly beauty regime. Either way, they definitely work wonders to soothe and soften my lips after a long day at work in the drying offiice air con or as protection from the cold British weather.

As far as the scents are concered the Tiramisu is the perfect blend of chocolate and coffee that no word of a lie literally smells like the traditional Italian dessert! Trying not to eat this product is a little tricky too when you love Tiramisu as much as me. Not to be forgotten though, I was pleasantly surprised by the Cherry flavour, other products I've purchased in this scent have been a little less fruity and more chemically in their aromas. This however was a refreshing change, it wasn't overwhelming but subtly sweet and maybe it's just my senses but was also a little bit of a nostalgic throwback to the Playdough I used to play with as a kid.

Both the scents are gorgeous so picking a favourite out of the two is tough, but I think the Cherry balm just wins it. However in 11 scents, 4 of which are allergen free you'll be hard pushed to discover one you didn't like! Plus at only £3.99 per pot, you can pick up one of these beauty bargains without breaking your bank.

Do you have a favourite lip balm flavour? Let me know.

Until next time..

How to Glow from Head to Toe : Moroccan My Shine & Body Butter Review

It's that time of year when everyone starts to do a spot of spring cleaning, improving themselves and their homes. So I thought why not extend this state of mind as far as my skin and hair care routines. My hair is definitely overdue a bit of TLC, I've gone too long without a haircut and taming my tresses has become a bit of a battle. Not to mention my non existent moisturising regime which has completely dropped off over the winter months!

I decided to change all this and popped into my local Superdrug store to treat myself to some goodies, confronted with a whole selection of lotions and potions all with different purposes, it was a little overwhelming (as a stereotypical Libra decisions are not my forté.)

In the end I settled on these 3 deliciously delightful products:

- Superdrug Body Butter in Coconut & Sweet Lime
- Herbal Essences Moroccan My Shine Shampoo & Conditioner

The shampoo is totally gorgeous, and although I hate to use this cliché it really did leave my hair visibly softer and smoother (cue the hair swishing adverts..) Even though it won't fix all my split ends, it will definitely help to postpone the need for a good chop and help me to tame the tangles in the mean time.

I was dubious about the body butter, own branded moisturisers can be greasy and take forever to absorb into the skin, however I was pleasantly surprised by this particular purchase. The combination of coconut and lime reminds me of childhood holidays, but doesn't overpower the senses. And when applied after my bath, it sunk in quickly without leaving any sticky residue.

It's never too soon to start prepping yourself for the spring/summer sunshine, and if I keep up this routine I'll be well on my way to having soft silky pins which I'll be happy to reveal in any dress!

I hope you enjoyed my post, thank you for reading!

Until next time..

Simple DIY - Design Your Own Laptop Case

Hey there!

People always say less is more, but sometimes it can be fun to spice up your outfit, makeup or accessories with something that shows a little bit more of your personality. With this in mind, my latest post won't be my standard fashion or beauty musings, but instead about my other big passion. Art.

If you follow me on Instagram you'll know that from time to time I stay up late at night and end up drawing into the early hours of the morning, and although I am by no means the best artist out there (and I definitely don't practice enough to hone my skills) I find it a highly therapeutic hobby. I tend to think of applying makeup like working on a canvas with all the different brushes too!

So when I purchased a brand new neoprene laptop case the other day, in pink of course! I realised that although it was a lovely colour, it was screaming out for a little detailing.

I really love tattoo art, I'm not entirely sure where this love affair begun but something about the way tattoos are drawn, with their clean lines and heavy contrasting colours but I find the artwork particularly inspiring. So when I found this design on Google images (I feel awful not being able to credit the source but I can't remember for the life of me where it came from) I knew I had to use it for something.

So I lightly penciled the design onto the neoprene case and got to work with my trusty sharpie, being careful not to press too hard so that the ink wouldn't bleed into the fabric. But an hour or so later I was done and fairly pleased with the finished product. Being a bit of a perfectionist about my drawings I'm never entirely happy with the results and there are areas of this which are a little off, but overall I think it adds a 'je ne sais quoi.'

I hope that this post might inspire some of you to think outside the box and get creative, there's no write or wrong in art which is exactly why I love it so much, you're free to experiment however you like!

Until next time..
