GlassesShop Haul - Quirky New 'Zebra' Print Glasses Review & Coupon Code!

 Hello!

I've been wearing glasses since I first started school, I remember the first style I picked out were these completely circular, multi-coloured rainbow glasses - looking back at these now, I do wonder why my parents even let me been seen in them, but I was insistent that those were the frames for me. As I got older, I learnt the hard way that glasses weren't considered 'cool' and ended up buying contact lenses as soon as I was old enough to be allowed them. Now at nearly 21, I completely accept that I'm never going to have perfect eyesight and it doesn't even bother me, in fact the prospect of purchasing new glasses has become something I get excited about. So you can imagine my curiosity when I was introduced to GlassesShop.com

(*Please note: I was contacted by the company and received a complimentary pair of glasses in exchange for an honest review, all the opinions are my own.

Essentially a warehouse of affordable frames and prescription sunglasses, there's a whole host of cheap glasses to choose from. I didn't find it hard to find a style I liked, in fact I found it hard narrowing it down to just one pair! In the end I chose the 'Winchester' frames in the colour Zebra. These particular ones jumped out at me because of their quirky design, I'm usually very reserved when I choose my glasses, opting for more traditional tortoise shell patterns or just plain black (this could be due to the high levels of regret I still experience from my childhood rainbow frames haha!) but I decided to be spontaneous and ordered them regardless, and I am so glad I did.

A few action shots of my frames in use:

The frames are large and really open up my eyes, which is perfect for me as I've had frames in the past that haven't been properly in proportion with my features and made me look pretty tired. Another bonus is the gorgeous zebra detailing which is more a lot more subtle than I imagined it to be, meaning I can definitely wear them at work. I do wonder why they called the design zebra though, from where I'm sitting they definitely look like more of a giraffe or cow print - not that it matters!

They arrived quicker than I anticipated, perfectly packaged in a protective, plastic case with a handy cleaning cloth - the fact that GlassesShop send out these with their glasses is a complete lifesaver for me, I'm forever just chucking my frames straight into my handbag then wondering why they're completely scratched and marked! I actually completely crushed my last pair at the bottom of my bag so I'm definitely going to try and take better care of these.

I was even lucky enough to receive a discount voucher in the box for money off my next pair of frames from them, which is something I'll definitely be doing because I can't get over the quality of these. The only negatives I can find with these glasses are that due to their size, they do tend to slip down my nose, however this is something I can easily fix at my local optometrist so I'm not too worried. Despite the fact they slide a little, the frames are actually surprisingly light, which is a positive because no one wants to wear heavy face furniture for the whole day!

I'm really happy with my choice, I did have very low expectations for purchasing prescription glasses online, but I've been pleasantly surprised by how easy it is and I'll definitely think twice before picking up a new pair of glasses on the highstreet. No doubt this is the beginning of my latest accessory obsession now that I've found a way to buy glasses on the cheap.

So I hope you liked my choice of frames, I'd love to know what you think! And if you're particularly keen for a new pair for yourself or you fancy some sunnies for your holiday, I have a code for you to use at the checkout for a huge 50% off the total price of your purchase: GSHOT50

#Trending: 'Mermaid Inspired' ASOS Wishlist - Fun Holographic Summer Fashion Inspiration

Hey there!

Already the high street is beginning to introduce some of A/W 15's new styles into their stores and for me personally it can be a bit of a struggle to resist temptation from purchasing an oversized jumper, but it's important to remember it's only July! That said, it's impossible to forget the incredible mid season sales which have left me with the opportunity to treat myself to a few goodies which I may not have even looked at before. As I'm trying to find the perfect holiday for the end September I'm going to take advantage of one particular trend that's really caught my eye - holographic fabrics.

They've been around for a while now and for the most part have really revived that 70's retro disco vibe which has been topping the trends since the beginning of the year. We've all seen them styled in our magazines as great for adding a little luxe to your laid back sports look or a touch of glamour in place of your LBD, but I believe it's important to have a little fun with fashion and really love the 'mermaid' movement that's been sweeping the stores and have compiled a few of my personal favourites that ASOS has to offer!

1. ASOS Premium Iridescent Jewel Cluster Bodycon Dress (£150.00) - a little pricey but well worth it for the intricate beading and unique, flattering style
2. Miista Mada Cross Strap Holographic Flat Sandals (£142.00 £88.00) - these gorgeous chunky sandals are very on trend at the moment, I can definitely see them fitting into my suitcase!
3. ASOS Holographic Snake iPhone 6 Case (£8.00) - it may say it's designed to be snake print but I think this could easily pass as fish scales
4. ASOS Mermaid Shell Vest & Short Pyjama Set (£18.00) - all the magic of owning your own clam bra and fish tail without the impracticalities! Eat your heart out Ariel
5. Miista Mada Cross Strap Holographic Flat Sandals (£142.00 £88.00) - so beautiful I had to put both colours on my list, in the perfect world I'd definitely own both shades
6. Skinnydip Mermaid Shell Across Body Bag in Pink - this fun, novelty shaped metallic bag is not only the ideal way to express your playful yet stylish side but also really reminds me of Moschino's Barbie designs, anyone else reminiscing their childhood right now?

Whether you're a mermaid fanatic or just a fan of shiny holographic fabrics I hope this post has given you a little inspiration on how to spice up your wardrobe and have fun at the same time. And apologies if like me you'll now be humming 'under the sea' for the rest of the day now!

MAC Cosmetic Haul: Kylie Jenner's Beauty Secret - 'Spice' Lip Liner & 'Velvet Teddy' Review

Aloha!

A couple of months ago everyone was obsessed with Kylie Jenner's lips, with girls all over the beauty world trying to emulate her trademark pout (not always successfully, I've seen some horrific / hilarious videos on Vine). But even if you aren't blessed with full lips or the bank account to be able to afford to have your pout plumped up, you'll definitely be able to copy her style and try a few tricks of the trade to transform your smile.

I recently lost my MAC makeup virginity and decided to purchase both a lip liner and lipstick online. It took a fair few hours of internet searching, reading beauty blog reviews and googling KJ's beauty secrets for me to find the shades and styles I wanted, but eventually I settled on two products perfect for recreating Kylie's makeup look. The lip liner I chose was MAC's iconic, undisputed beauty staple in 'Spice' accompanied by their incredibly popular lipstick in 'Velvet Teddy' - this particular colour sold out for a few months back at the start of the year due to the 'Kyle Jenner effect' after beauty bloggers everywhere discovered this was her shade of choice.

Not having purchased any of MAC's cosmetics before I was pretty apprehensive about receiving Velvet Teddy, I don't tend to buy lipsticks online without trying them in-store first as they can appear completely different in a photograph compared to a swatch on your skin. However upon arrival I was pleasantly surprised by the tone. Described by many as being 'your lips but better,' I couldn't of phrased it better myself! It's the perfect nude, matte lipstick with a subtle hint of brown to it that looks great whether you're going for a demure vibe during winter or a 'barely there' bronzed beach goddess glow over the summer months. I personally find that on my skin it suits me best when I'm more tanned as I prefer a peachier lipstick shade to add a flush of colour to my face on paler days.

I was particularly amazed by the staying power of this particular product, perhaps it's because of it's matte finish but this lipstick really stayed put throughout the day with minimal touch ups. The buttery feel of the product really was long lasting too which surprised me as I find some of my other matte lipsticks to be very drying - I genuinely cannot say a bad word about this product and I'm just so pleased I treated myself to it.

Paired with my Spice lip liner it creates a subtle, ombré effect which I adore and have already set my sights on many of MAC's other lip products - I predict this to be the beginning of a long love affair!

What MAC lipstick do you personally recommend?  Or do you have a favourite shade?

Until next time..
