What 2017 Has Taught Me

What 2017 Has Taught Me

This year has been a mixture of ups and downs, with the highs being amazing memorable moments, and the lows being some of the more difficult obstacles I've had to tackle in a good few years. But from the lows, I feel like I've actually achieved a lot personally through my own growth. So here are the top five things that 2017 has taught me.

If you want it, you've got to work for it.

For ages I had this idea that good things come to those who wait, and that if you're kind, patient and positive you'll end up with everything you want. But in fact, whilst that might be true for some things, the important things in life like work or blog goals, aren't just going to all land in your lap one day. You need to put in the work. You got a dream? Go do something about it! If you want to start a course, learn a language, set up your own business, start making the steps that will allow you to get there. Whether it take a week, a month or a few years, every step you take will have you a little closer to your dream.

Channel your negativity into something positive.

When you're feeling sad, anxious or lonely, it can be easy to let yourself be consumed by those feelings. This is the year I learnt that no one can make you feel better about things that are going on around you apart from yourself. I threw myself into my blogging, art and socialising with friends and family when times got a little bit stressful, and found it all to work wonders on my stress levels. If you're able to even spend 5 minutes of your time doing productive things, or even things that'll make you happy, I guarantee it'll make you feel better.

A good night's sleep can work wonders.

I've always been a bit of a night owl and am guilty of spending too much time scrolling through social media before bed, but I really tried to take time out to read and switch off before I turned my lights out this summer. As a result I found myself feeling well rested and ready to take on the day. Unfortunately this isn't a habit I've managed to keep up in my everyday routine - I find myself to be more productive after 9pm! But having discovered what a difference a full night's sleep can make to you both physically and emotionally, I'm hoping to get my bedtime routine down in 2018.

Don't be afraid to take time out for yourself.

Bloggers will understand sometimes more than anyone else how difficult it can feel juggling a job, family, friends and a blog all at once. There are times when you can feel a little claustrophobic with all your to-do lists and social events. But instead of letting that weigh you down, it's important to just say no and take a little time out for yourself. Whether yoga is your thing, painting, blogging or just lying in bed with a box of Maltesers and having a Netflix binge, yo do you girl!

Fight for what you believe in regardless of what anyone else thinks.

I'm not saying that your opinion is the only one that matters, or that you should be pushing that on anyone else, but having an opinion and holding your own in a conversation is something I've learnt this year. If you feel passionately about a topic, don't let anyone else tell you it's wrong or stupid, instead explain with confidence why you feel that way. Having interests and hobbies is part of what makes you, you, and if someone doesn't like that then they're not important! 2018 is going to be the year of self confidence, self belief and happiness for me.

What has 2017 taught you? I'd love for you to share with me in the comments below!

Until next time..

Wishing You A Very Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas from Marfmallow! H&M Christmas Pyjamas 2017

It's Christmas! And I really hope that you're all celebrating today with your family, friends and loved ones. Whether you're spending today low key in your pyjamas, or getting all dolled up to dine out, I just want to wish you a very Merry Christmas.

And whilst I'm under no illusions that very few of you will even get a chance to read this post, because hopefully you're playing board games, watching festive films, laughing at rubbish cracker jokes, or perhaps even incredibly tipsy on free flowing prosecco. I've come this far with Blogmas and don't intend to skip out on Christmas Day - but I am keeping it short and sweet!

I'm incredibly proud for completing Blogmas 2017, and happy to have met some wonderful people online along the way. I am looking forward to celebrating Christmas now and taking a little time out from blogging to enjoy my time - I'll be back very soon though with a new post I'm sure!

If you do get to read this post, may the rest of your day be merry and wonderful.

Until next time..

Why A Kindle Paperwhite Was At The Top Of My Christmas List This Year

An avid reader throughout my teens, my first ever weekend job was at Waterstones, and it suited me to a T. As a kid I loved the refuge of the library, and would beg my parents to let me go and browse the bookshops we passed on our shopping trips in town. For as long as I can remember the smell of a new book has also had a certain romance to it, and even now the nostalgia of my days in retail at Waterstones make me long for simpler times.

But surprisingly this year I asked for a Kindle. I know. Shock.

Considered a taboo gadget amidst true book lovers, even I spent years shunning the idea. How can a Kindle even compare to the comforting feel of holding a book? The way the spine creases as you open it the first time. The feel of the crisp pages as you read your way through a novel. For as long as I can remember books have been an escape from screens and electronics, so why would I want to read off of one?

Trust me I'd fought the idea for long enough in my head. And even now as I hold the gadget in my hand (thank you Dad for letting me unwrap this gift early!), some part of me feels a little guilty. But to be perfectly honest with you, the more I use my new Kindle, the more distant that little niggling feeling becomes, as I appreciate the incredible design and functionality.

Nothing new to the market, any of you who have been Kindle lovers for years now will be shouting 'yeah it's about time you discovered it!' But for those of you, who like me, have opted for books over a Kindle, I think its time we weigh up the real pros of this product.

It's portable, light weight and incredibly dinky. I can pop this in my bag for work to crack out on my lunch break, meaning I get more reading time.

It's basically a whole library in my hand. I don't have to worry about starting a book, not liking it and then having nothing to read. I can simply download another and get to it!

It's cheaper in the long run than the cost of most paperbacks & hardbacks. After the initial cost of the product, I'm saving money because downloads are cheaper - I'm effectively saving trees too.

The backlit, no-glare screen, means I can read in any weather conditions, or at any time of day - gone are the days of clip on book lights and bedside lamps.

Finally the Kindle barely needs charging, it's highly efficient in the way it uses its power, so I'm not constantly reaching for the charger. Unlike my iPhone..

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying goodbye to my printed books just yet. I still love taking a book away on holiday with me to read poolside, and there's no way I'm using my Kindle whilst I'm in the bath. But overall I'm genuinely glad I put a Kindle on my Christmas list, and even more thankful for receiving it!

Do you prefer books, or are you obsessed with your Kindle? Let me know below!

Until next time..

Kylie Cosmetics 'Spice' Lip Set Holiday Bundle Collection 2017 Review

Kylie Cosmetics 'Spice' Lip Set Holiday Bundle Collection 2017 Review

After posting about the Kylie Cosmetics Sugar lip set the other day, today's post will be the final instalment in my five part Holiday Bundle review series. Last, but definitely not least, today I'm taking a closer look at the Spice lip set, and I'm excited to share with you my honest opinions on the products inside.

An assortment of 5 different lip products, the Spice lip set is basically the ultimate selection of holiday shades. Unlike Sugar, the Spice lip set is a sultry combination of deep red shades that literally scream festive. Perfect for evening wear and, of course, Christmas day, this gorgeous mix of lip products includes warm red shades in a variety of intensities, so there's something to wear for all moods, whether you're feeling jolly or not!

Kylie Cosmetics 'Spice' Lip Set Holiday Bundle Collection 2017 Review

Packaged in a gorgeous little green and white gift box, like the emerald green cosmetic bag, this lip set is so festive in an alternative way. The green packaging beautifully contrasts with the red hue of the products creating a holly-esque feel.

The Spice lip set includes the following shades:

Juniper - A shimmer wine burgundy lip gloss.
Hollyberry - A deepened rich raspberry matte liquid lipstick.
Cinnamon - A warm terracotta brown lip gloss.
Goals - A soft strawberry velvet liquid lipstick.
Clove - A deepened rosewood matte liquid lipstick.

Kylie Cosmetics 'Spice' Lip Set Holiday Bundle Collection 2017 Review

I've actually got two favourites from this set, both in different finishes. First up is Goals, it's a really soft, feminine shade that's a gorgeous strawberry colour without all the punch of Red Velvet. It's ideal for days when you want the glamour of a red lipstick, but aren't feeling quite so bold. The other is Cinnamon, the terracotta brown gloss. It's so pigmented, non-sticky and just has a beautiful full coverage finish to it that really does last. When worn all day I only had to reapply after lunch - which is absolutely fine by me!

Kylie Cosmetics 'Spice' Lip Set Holiday Bundle Collection 2017 Review

The only matte liquid lipstick, Clove, is a beautiful shade but much runnier than any of the previous matte lip kits I've owned. I know that the darker shades are a little more translucent than the lighter ones, but until owning this colour I'd never had to worry about going over my lips twice with any of the kits. I had to do a second coat of Clove to get the colour even and not look patchy. It's not a deal breaker, but definitely worth noting about Kylie's dark matte lip kits.

As for the velvet lipstick, Hollyberry, it's another win for Kylie's velvet finish! The pigment is so strong, it only needed one coat - a little of this shade goes a very long way indeed. It's a gorgeous hue that will look amazing with a gold smokey eye for an evening event - it may even be my New Year's Eve lipstick of choice!

Kylie Cosmetics 'Spice' Lip Set Holiday Bundle Collection 2017 Review

Finally there's Juniper, the shimmer burgundy gloss, and I have to say I'm a little disappointed with this one. This ironically was the one I was most excited about by how it looked in the packaging. In the tube it's got a really beautiful red metallic sheen to it, but when applied it almost loses all of its glamour and shine. It's actually way more subtle than I expected, especially when you consider how deeply coloured the Cinnamon gloss is. I envisaged bold metallic shiny lips, but what I got was a soft glittery red glow - still very pretty, but not what I thought it'd be, it's definitely wearable during the day and not the blingy red party lip gloss of my dreams.

Kylie Cosmetics 'Spice' Lip Set Holiday Bundle Collection 2017 Review

Overall I love the Spice set and don't regret buying it at all. It's got a beautiful selection of festive shades that I'll enjoy wearing through into 2018, but I have to be honest and say that the Sugar set is unexpectedly my favourite of the two.

Let me know what your favourite product was amidst the collection in the comments below! If I had to choose between Goals and Cinnamon, I think Goals would just about win!

Until next time..

Kylie Cosmetics 'Sugar' Lip Set Holiday Bundle Collection 2017 Review

Kylie Cosmetics 'Sugar' Lip Set Holiday Bundle Collection 2017 Review

After posting about the Kylie Cosmetics Naughty & Nice Eyeshadow palettes, as well as the Red Velvet Lip Kit, I'll be continuing my five part Holiday Bundle review series with another post day! This time I'm taking a closer look at the lip sets, and I'm excited to share with you my honest opinions on the Sugar Lip Set.

Kylie Cosmetics 'Sugar' Lip Set Holiday Bundle Collection 2017 Review

An assortment of 5 different lip products, the Sugar lip set is everything you could wish for if you've got a thing for pinky-nude lipsticks. Unlike Spice, the Sugar lip set is a subdued combination of shades that will beautifully compliment a smokey eye this holiday season. Very wearable for the day, this gorgeous mix of lip products includes both warm and cool tones so you can switch things up in a simple way! What's nice about these is that they're not overwhelmingly 'festive' too and can definitely be worn all year round - particularly the glitter glosses which will look beaut with a tan! But more on those in a bit.

Kylie Cosmetics 'Sugar' Lip Set Holiday Bundle Collection 2017 Review

Packaged in a gorgeous little silver and white gift box, there's something ever so angelic and ethereal about this little set. It's chic and classic but the silver adds a Christmas twist to it as well.

The Sugar lip set includes the following shades:

Butter - A gold lip gloss with multicoloured glitter.
Sugar - A opalescent lip gloss ( very unicorn-esque!).
Savage - A warm apricot nude velvet liquid lipstick.
Boy Bye - A mid tone mauve velvet liquid lipstick.
Angel - A mauve pink matte liquid lipstick.

My favourites in the set are definitely the velvet liquid lipsticks. Their pigment, wearability and longevity is just astonishing, and I feel so comfortable wearing them for long periods of time knowing they won't smudge, disappear or dry out. Out of Boy Bye and Savage, I have to say Savage wins, it's a beautiful apricot shade that's just dark enough not to be considered a nude hue.

Kylie Cosmetics 'Sugar' Lip Set Holiday Bundle Collection 2017 Review

The only matte liquid lipstick, Angel, has a beautiful colour to it. The cool toned pink is incredibly flattering but I think will look better on me in the summer with a tan - it's a little draining on my pale skin at the moment. Like all of Kylie's original matte lip kits, this one is just as outstanding in terms of wearability - she just keeps on killing it with her lip products!

Kylie Cosmetics 'Sugar' Lip Set Holiday Bundle Collection 2017 Review - Sugar

Kylie Cosmetics 'Sugar' Lip Set Holiday Bundle Collection 2017 Review - Butter

Finally the lip glosses, Butter and Sugar, are beautiful additions to the set. I'm not much of a lip gloss fanatic myself (if you're a long haired lady like me you'll know the struggle of keeping your gloss from getting stuck to your mouth!). But I have to say these shades are particularly striking. Out of the two, Butter is my favourite as it's warmer than Sugar. I doubt I'd go full gloss with these, but can see them being patted onto the centre of my favourite lipsticks to add dimension and a touch of sparkle.

Overall I'm impressed with the Sugar set, with its beautiful range of shades that are all very different. The contrast between warm and cool tones gives you plenty to play around with, as well as the mix of finishes.

Let me know what your favourite product was amidst the collection in the comments below! Mine is definitely Savage from this lip set.

Until next time..

Party Season Skin Detox: The Body Shop Tea Tree Foaming Cleanser Review

The Body Shop Tea Tree Foaming Cleanser Review

Christmas week is an unapologetic celebration of merriment. A time to indulge in all of your favourite food, drink and other treats. And a time spent laughing and playing games with family and friends until late.

But with such indulgence comes problematic skin - at least in my case! The copious amounts of rich foods and booze play havoc with my skin, which can't wait until the healthy eating regime kicks back in, in the New Year.

So I've found a little face cleanser in The Body Shop, which I've fallen in love with and really helps to keep my skin under control when I'm pushing my body to its limits with sugary treats. After all I always think if I spend 11 months of the year trying to be healthy, I think I can spend a month where I can treat myself without judgement.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Foaming Cleanser Review

My little wonder product comes in the form of the Tea Tree Foaming Cleanser. Nothing new to the brand's range of products, I can't believe it's taken me this long to stumble upon this cleanser. In the past I used to dab a little Tea Tree Oil onto blemishes, but my naturally dry skin type never agreed with the intensity of the product. Enter the Tea Tree Foaming Cleanser, a much less harsh way to banish blemishes and prevent new ones from forming with its antibacterial properties.

It foams up beautifully and is so light and gentle to work into the skin, some Tea Tree products can really sting but this little beauty doesn't at all. It easily removes all makeup, but I avoid my eyes with this and instead stick with my Glossier Milk Jelly cleanser for eye makeup - I'm too wimpy about getting Tea Tree in my eyes haha! Honestly though the Tea Tree cleanser leaves my skin feeling like its had a deep clean. My skin is left matte and fresh, with that sort of menthol glow to it that makes me feel like my face has been reborn. I've been using it for just over a week and already can see a difference, which is a bonus! Long term I hope it doesn't dry my skin out too much, but only time will tell I suppose and I can always combat this with my Vichy Mineral 89 serum anyway should it occur.

What's your party season skin care essential? Share your tips with me in the comments below!

Until next time..

The Body Shop Truly Nourishing Banana Hair Mask Review - Winter Hair Care

The Body Shop Truly Nourishing Banana Hair Mask Review - Winter Hair Care

I've finally had my hair cut after a good few months of growing it out, and it really feels so healthy and shiny now that all the split ends have been banished. And after all the bleaching I'd done to it at the beginning of the year, I'm on a personal mission to keep it in the best condition I can as I continue to grow it longer - a task that's no easy feat when you consider how drying the cold weather is, and how tempting it can be to straighten your hair all the time when it's exposed to the elements during winter. So when I stumbled upon The Body Shop's Nourishing Banana Hair Mask, I thought I'd give it a whirl!

The Body Shop Truly Nourishing Banana Hair Mask Review - Winter Hair Care

Drawn in by the vibrant yellow packaging, I added it to my shopping basket most due to the unusual banana scent - I mean how often do you honestly see banana scented products for sale? Unless I'm blind to them, I really haven't seen any, which I think is pretty strange considering what a delicious scent it is. I know it can be a bit of a Marmite thing, you either love bananas or hate them, but it really takes me back to creating banana-based hair and face masks in my teens - without all the mess!

The Body Shop Truly Nourishing Banana Hair Mask Review - Winter Hair Care

Like any hair mask, it's applied after you've shampooed and conditioned your hair. You leave it for 5 minutes (or longer) and then rinse it all out.

I have to say I didn't find the banana scent to be that strong (in comparison to some of the other Body Shop's fruity scents!) until my hair was dry, when I got the full effect of the product. My hair was silky to touch and combed through a hell of a lot easier than usual. Is it a wonder product? Probably not. It doesn't do anything extra special, though I did find my hair has definitely not been quite as frizzy after blow drying as it usually is. The scent lasts, my hair is soft and I like the idea of it being a fruity, natural product. I may even give the shampoo and conditioner a try when I next need to stock up.

The Body Shop Truly Nourishing Banana Hair Mask Review - Winter Hair Care

Honestly though this product doesn't do anything that any other hair mask would, it's just a little different to me because of the scent. I'd definitely recommend incorporating a hair mask into your winter hair care though to just inject some much-needed moisture back into the ends.

So if you're looking for tropical, piña colada-esque hair, that's smooth and nourished, then give this product a go. But if banana just isn't your thing, I'd look elsewhere!

Until next time..

DIY Festive Nails - Easy Affordable Manicures For Christmas & New Year's Eve

Easy DIY Christmas Nails - Primark Nail Packs

It's that time of year again when the nail salons are basically fully booked with everyone getting their glam on for the festive season. But if like me, you can't make the only awkward remaining time slot on a Tuesday morning at 11 am, but still want to have fierce nails for Christmas, then don't fret I've got a pound-saving solution for y'all.

My little beauty tip comes in the form of Primark's press on nail packs, starting from as little as £1 - now there's a price you can't refuse! Available in a range of shades, including metallic and glitter finishes, with extra special packs adorned with gems - for the extra among us! I just can't get over what a fabulous price point these nail packs are at. They even include the glue too, so you don't have to purchase that separately.

Easy DIY Christmas Nails - Primark Nail Packs

I picked up a metallic red 'Ruby' set and an icy glitter 'Princess' set complete with sparkly gems. Both costing only a couple of pounds, they're a much more purse friendly alternative than my usual salon bill, and also considerably cheaper than competitor brand nail packs in Superdrug and Boots.

Easy DIY Christmas Nails - Primark Nail Packs - Princess Gems

Easy DIY Christmas Nails - Primark Nail Packs - Ruby Metallic

Arguably we'll all happily pay for the convenience of having our nails done for us, and a longer lasting set, but I'm only after a quick solution that'll tide me over until I can get booked in for my next set of acrylics.

Easy DIY Christmas Nails - Primark Nail Packs

Lasting about a week and a half, providing you're not soaking them in the bath or washing up bowls every day, these fantastic nails don't chip or lose their sparkle. If they're too long or not your desired shape, grab a nail file or pair of scissors and shape them to how you want them to look. I personally love sticking something on Netflix and just filing away, something about its very therapeutic indeed!

So next time you stuck in a bit of a nail-centric pickle, head to your local Primark, pick up a packet of press on nails and get filing!

Until next time..

Stocking Filler Under £10 - Sausage Dog Keyring / Handbag Charm

Stocking Filler Under £10 - Sausage Dog Keyring / Handbag Charm

If you know me, you'll know I'm pretty obsessed with dachshunds. Their long squishy bodies, comically short legs and gorgeous little faces just capture my heart every time, and I physically have to restrain myself from chasing them down the street to pet one if I even catch a glimpse of one.

I'm not able to have my own dog at the moment, but it doesn't stop me from picking up little sausage dog themed knick knacks. So when I popped into town the other day and saw these delightfully sweet little sausage dog keyrings / handbag charms, of course I took one home with me.

From 'All That Glitters' there were three different colours to choose from - black, white or tan. I thought the black crystal one had the most expressive face so I popped him into my basket. Each design is adorned with little crystals on a gold coloured keyring. Now I know that the stones will probably drop out quite quickly from being bashed around in my handbag, and the gold may lose its colour, but for £7 even if it only lasts a month it'll bring me plenty of joy.

Stocking Filler Under £10 - Sausage Dog Keyring / Handbag Charm

As well as sausage dog designs, the shop had a whole array of sparkly charm designs. From teddy bears and perfume bottles, to robots and robins, there was literally something for all interests. I think these keyrings make a wonderful stocking stuffer though, or are even small enough to be popped inside a cracker if you're making your own this year!

Are you a fan of sausage dogs too! Or just a dog lover in general? Leave me a comment below to let me know!

Until next time..

Blogmas 2017: Why I'm Proud For Even Making It Half Way

Blogging has always been a passion of mine, but it's always been something that's been on the back-burner. I'm sure there are many of you in the same situation where you're juggling a full-time job, social life and family, on top of a blog too. And sometimes finding the time for blogging just isn't possible or even a priority.

Over the last couple of years my blog posts have been sporadic. Mostly I've popped a post out if I've purchased something new, or gone on an exciting trip, but I've never ever kept to a schedule or promised myself to even blog at least once a week.

So in a shocking turn of events when I convinced myself that 2017 would be the year I'd take part in Blogmas once and for all, I never thought I'd even make it past the first week, let alone over half way!

And for the first time I've felt a real sense of accomplishment in not only my blog, but myself for making it this far and finding the discipline, time and creativity to power through. It's not been easy but seeing everyone else take part in it too, with so many creative and fun ideas, has made the experience pretty inspiring! Sure there have been days where it's felt like more of a chore, and I've felt like giving up or skipping a day, but here I am still writing and snapping away.

So I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read any of my blog posts, comment on them, or like them on Twitter. As well as a big thank you to all the people who've put up with my time consuming photography and editing, you've all supported me to get to this point!

Here's hoping that I can make it to the end of the month!

Until next time..

5 Things I Wish I Knew Before Making a Gingerbread House

John Lewis Gingerbread House Making Kit Inspiration Christmas 2017

I decided 2017 was going to finally be the year that I assembled a gingerbread house of my own. Not a dab hand in the kitchen mind, I left the baking to the professionals and ordered a kit online from John Lewis!

After browsing through the hundreds of incredible images on Pinterest, I raced to the supermarket to grab armfuls of multi-coloured sweeties and got creating. But I feel like there's a few honest things that the gingerbread decorating professionals can't convey through their perfect gingerbread house photos, and I feel like it'll help you guys if I tell you the things I wish I knew before building one!

John Lewis Gingerbread House Making Kit Inspiration Christmas 2017

You need to be liberal with the icing.

Step one is always glue the structure together with icing, but to get the house perfect you want to go sparingly right? Wrong. If your house is going to have any chance of holding the lashings of candy you're going to adorn it with, you better liberally apply that icing - worry about the aesthetics later!

You will sit holding the walls together until they dry for a long time.

Thick icing just isn't going to dry in a couple of minutes, so get comfy, put a film on or listen to some music and accept that if you've got an itch you're not going to be able to scratch it until your structure is sound.

John Lewis Gingerbread House Making Kit Inspiration Christmas 2017

Your gingerbread house will melt if your home is too hot.

If you're about to get started and your house is roasty toasty, open a window or door for a little first. That icing is going to have no chance to set if it's too warm! It'll only double your drying time. Plus I'm sure you don't want to see your hard work just sliding off the gingerbread.

You will consume more sweets than you put on the house.

If you're anything like me, you'll find you overestimated just how many sweets you needed for the decorating. Which of course means that they're not going to be wasted! I like to work to a 'one for me, one for the house' method which is clearly the fairest ratio..

Forget about the Pinterest perfection and get messy.

Unless you've got mad skills, it's unlikely you're going to achieve gingerbread perfection first time round. So leave your pins at the door and just have fun getting creative with the decorating, sometimes the most spontaneous, messy ideas can actually look the best!

You probably won't eat the house in the end.

If you spend a good hour or two piecing together your gingerbread house and intricately decorating it with enough sweets to set up your own sweet shop, chances are your labour of love isn't going to be eaten. It's a work of art, not a snack! So try using it as a table centre piece for Christmas Day - you'll get a dozen compliments from friends and family!

John Lewis Gingerbread House Making Kit Inspiration Christmas 2017

So that's it for my little tips on gingerbread houses! I did actually have so much fun making mine, even if it was a slow and creatively draining process. Maybe I'll be ready again by Christmas 2018 to create another!

Have you made a gingerbread house this year? I'd love to see it if you've blogged about it too, so pop a comment down below!

Until next time..

Kylie Cosmetics 'Red Velvet' Holiday Bundle Collection 2017 - Velvet Lip Kit Review

Kylie Jenner Cosmetics Red Velvet Liquid Velvet Lip Kit Review

I previously posted at the start of blogmas that my go-to red lipstick of the month was going to be MAC's Ruby Woo, but since receiving my Kylie Cosmetics Holiday Bundle in the post, I'm afraid MAC has some serious competition in the form of Kylie's 'Red Velvet' Velvet Lip Kit.

Kylie Jenner Cosmetics Red Velvet Liquid Velvet Lip Kit Review

Kylie Jenner Cosmetics Red Velvet Liquid Velvet Lip Kit Review

In terms of the colour, Red Velvet is the most vibrant, sumptuous red I've ever seen. It's bright, bold and really a holly berry-esque hue. The liner literally glides on with its creamy application - none of that relining going on with this lippie, it's one swipe perfection!

Like all of Kylie's lip kits it has that deliciously sweet scent to it, but I kind of think it would've been a cool idea to change the scent for the holiday collection - a peppermint, gingerbread or cinnamon scent might have given them a bit of a twist.

Kylie Jenner Cosmetics Red Velvet Liquid Velvet Lip Kit Review

Kylie Jenner Cosmetics Red Velvet Liquid Velvet Lip Kit Review

As for the liquid lipstick itself, I think I'm a total convert to the velvet finish lip kits now, and I never thought I'd say that! I love the matte kits, and have been a fan of them since they were released, their long-lasting, non transferable colour was so impressive that nothing compared. But Kylie has raised the bar yet again! The velvet kits have all of the pigment, staying power and beautiful shades, but with the added comfort of a creamy velvet finish. Plus the colour is opaque, you don't have to build it up like some of the darker lip kits, which can be a little watery. I love that the velvet kits literally feel like you're not wearing any product, because they're so light, and their creamy finish is very moisturising. Which is my only criticism of the matte kits, which after a day of wear can feel quite dry.

Kylie Jenner Cosmetics Red Velvet Liquid Velvet Lip Kit Review

Kylie Jenner Cosmetics Red Velvet Liquid Velvet Lip Kit Review

Honestly I am hand on heart astounded by how this lipstick didn't shift all day, I applied it at 7.30am before work, at lunch, had multiple coffees and drinks and by the time I arrived back home at 6pm it was still perfectly in place. No need to reapply, fix smudged outlines, no bleeding into the skin, just bold red lips. Are these kits mistletoe proof? Probably not, you will have to be careful not to smudge them on coffee cups and what not, as their velvet finish doesn't set quite like the matte kits, but it won't stop me obsessing over them!

What's your go to lipstick finish? Leave me a comment below!

Until next time..

Diamond & Sapphire Stud Earrings Dupe - Affordable 'Party Season' Art Deco Vintage Jewellery

Diamond & Sapphire Cluster Marquise-Cut Art Deco Vintage Earrings

Tis the season of gift giving, and whilst I get such a buzz from finding the perfect gifts for my friends and family. I really feel like I deserve a little gift from me, to me, and a pat on the back for getting this far with blogmas too - it truly is a Christmas miracle!

So when I was browsing round all the gifts in TK Maxx during my lunch break, and I happened to stumble upon these gorgeous little earrings by Contessa Di Capri, I had to snap them up with my new found 'treat yo'self' attitude. My full time job is actually based in a jewellers, so I'm not stranger to jewellery and I know what I like!

Set in sterling silver (a must for me when it comes to jewellery, I can't cope with anything that's going to be leaving a green mark on my skin!) there's a mixture of blue and white cubic zirconia designed to mimic little diamonds and sapphires. With a marquise-cut centre stone, there's a cluster of blue stones around the edge, which gives the earrings a real art-deco vibe. Plus if you were to wear them horizontally rather than vertical, they'd kind of look like eyes, with maybe even an Eye of Horus Egyptian vibe to them too.

As with anything in TK Maxx it can often be hard to track down multiples of items, as they're usually end of line stock so I can't link them for you guys, but I'd always recommend having a little browse around you nearest TK Maxx as they do have a very pretty variety of contemporary jewellery pieces. These stud earrings only cost me £12.99, which I think is incredible considering the detail, sparkle and the fact they're sterling silver.

I'm usually not one for blue at all, preferring emerald gemstones over sapphires, but with cobalt blue having been such a huge colour this year, I'm open to exploring the hue! Here's a few gorgeous sapphire and diamond rings I've seen online that show just how great of a dupe these earrings are for fine jewellery!

Easy DIY Salt Dough Christmas Tree Decorations for Christmas 2017

Easy DIY Salt Dough Christmas Tree Decorations for Christmas 2017

Homemade Christmas decorations on Pinterest can look like a good idea, but when it comes down to it, they're often more complicated than the photos make them seem. I've dabbled in all sorts of Christmas crafts this year, for all skill levels, but one craft favourite I always come back to is Salt Dough decorations.

Very nostalgic, salt dough crafts are basically Play-Doh for adults (and children of course too!) and it's fun to just let your imagination run wild and see what your hands end up creating.

I created a mix of things this year, including basic little stars using a cookie cutter, which I painted in vibrant colours, then varnished with clear nail polish - plus a little glitter for good measure of course! To hang them up, I decided to use copper wire, but you could use anything from invisible cotton to ribbon - or maybe even create your own garland!

But I also had fun making santas, stockings and holly berries, along with some plain gift tag shapes to add a homemade touch to my wrapping this year!

Super easy and fun, you can get family and friends involved too, and sit around crafting whilst watching your favourite festive film - throw in a glass of mulled wine too if you're up for a laugh! If they don't turn out too shabby you can display them in your home, on your tree, or give them to your friends - you can see I've adorned my stag head's antlers with my holly decoration!

You can find the a variety of salt dough recipes online, along with inspiration - my favourite inspo library is always Pinterest of course! If you've tried out any salt dough decoration crafting this year and blogged about, leave your link below - I'd love to have a read!

Until next time..
